What is the Emory Summer Child Advocacy Program?
The Emory Summer Child Advocacy Program (ESCAP) provides paid, supervised internships with hands-on learning opportunities in the field of child advocacy during the summer months. Students participate in the program in one of two ways, either by working as an intern with an organization or by working on a research project. Interdisciplinary Internships: Students work in a juvenile court or advocacy organization in Georgia under the supervision of child advocacy professionals on specific cases of child deprivation. Research Grants: Students work under the supervision of an approved professor or child advocacy professional on a research project that will result in a substantial final paper (40 pages minimum). Who should apply? Law and graduate students interested in working in child advocacy in Georgia with a focus on child abuse and neglect issues. Eighteen positions are available in 2007.
