What is the Emergency First Response Team (EFRT)?

0

EFRT is the McMaster Students’ Union Emergency First Response Team. We are a volunteer organization, and we are on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day throughout the school year. We respond to any medical emergency on campus in a team of 3 responders, and our response time is about 1-2 minutes. We are not a replacement for an ambulance. We can assess the situation and request an ambulance if one is needed. We are trained in both the Red Cross’ Emergency First Responder course, and Toronto Ambulance’s Basic Trauma Life Support course. We carry advanced first aid equipment, such as oxygen, an automated external defibrillator (to be used in cases of cardiac arrest), EpiPens, and airways. EFRT provides a strictly confidential service.
