What is the ELM/EPT?
The Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) Exam and the English Placement Test (EPT) are exams the California State University system requires of all students prior to enrollment in the CSU, unless you are exempt by means of scores earned on other appropriate tests such as the CSU’s Early Assessment Program (EAP) tests in English and Mathematics, the SAT, and the ACT. The EPT and the ELM are not admission tests. They assess a student’s English and math skills for placement in college-level classes.
