What is the Elderly Rental Assistance program?
The Elderly Rental Assistance program (ERA) benefits low-income senior citizens. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: • Be 58 or older during the year; • Have a household income less than $10,000; • Pay rent in Oregon; • Pay at least 20 percent of your household income for rent plus fuel and utilities; • Own household assets of less than $25,000 (if you and your spouse/RDP are under age 65); and • Live on property that is subject to property taxes or makes a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT); and • Lived in Oregon on the last day of the year.
