What is the educational requirement to become a physical therapist?
Current regulations state that an entry level physical therapist must hold at least a Masters degree to sit for national licensure. A physical therapist today must complete a Bachelors degree and then enter a physical therapy school, which is typically an additional 2 to 3 years. The average physical therapist will have 6.5 7 years of schooling under their belt before entering the workforce. The latest trend in physical therapy education is the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Currently more than 90% of physical therapy schools are graduating students that are Doctors of Physical Therapy.
