What is the easiest way to get from Krakow to Auschwitz?
Hi It costs about 22 zloty (£4.10) return by train to Oswiecim. It is then about a 20 minute walk to Auschwitz from there. Remember to leave ample time to visit Birkennau camp, which is the extermination camp. If you do go please be respectful, both sites are free to wander round and are kept as a reminder to the suffering the Jews endured. It is a wonderful rail journey too as you go through some wooded countryside and get a real feel for how people must have felt during the war. We visited the camps about two weeks ago and took the train then walked to both camps so it isn’t difficult to do and it is MUCH cheaper than an organised trip. We also walked round the camps on our own, without a guide so we weren’t being told were to go at what time etc. Hope this helps and have a great time.
