What is the earliest age you test people for a career or college major direction?
If were talking about preparation for college and the selection of a major field of study, we feel that individuals in the range from high school junior to college sophomore is the ideal time. Earlier rather than later is probably the key here. Some high school sophomores may benefit from our testing program, but there is a possibility that retesting during the junior or senior year may be necessary to clarify the earlier test results. In some cases, I may test individuals as young as 14 primarily to get them seriously thinking about career and college major issues. In general though, the younger the student the less reliable the test results are likely to be. This is because the younger the person, the fewer life-work and academic experiences they have had to give them a basis for making career or college major discriminations.
