What is the duration of copyright in Kenya?
The duration of Copyright in Kenya is during the lifetime of the author and fifty years after the death of the author. In the event of the copyright work being owned by two or more persons than the duration of copyright shall be counted from the day of the death of the last right holder. (i). what is the difference between an author, composer and a publisher of music . An author composes the music. A composer or lyricists put word to the music. A publisher is one who organises for the work to become available to the public. Sometimes these are three different entities however, they call all be the same person. (ii). What is the difference between a publisher and a producer . A producer is the person or company that puts the work on a sound recording in the form of a tape, C.D etc. That is his principle duty. A producer produces the records for commercial use and sometimes referred to as a user. A publisher on the other hand is active in the arranging, organising, managing of the work.
