What is the Duke of Edinburghs Bronze Award?
The Award is what you make it. You are in control. You have to complete four different sections for a required length of time. It is a nationally recognised award for young people. It takes commitment to obtain. It is fun and hard work. You will work in the community. You will participate in a sport. You will learn a skill. You will take part in a team expedition. At school the focus is preparing the girls for the expedition. This training will involve an after school meeting on alternate weeks (due to the high numbers of pupils) from 4-5pm. The expeditions will involve a practice and a final expedition and will take place in April/May on 2 weekends. The award has been developed so that young people are encouraged to complete the other 3 sections in their own time, independently.
