What is the Duke Dubois Music Fund?
Duke Dubois was widely known in the industry as the “Dean of Jazz Promotion” and a tireless jazz booster. Duke played a key role in furthering the careers of many jazz artists, particularly of those just starting out. His career spanned five decades with labels such as CTI, Blue Note, Scepter ABC and his last gig, Vice President of Jazz Promotion for GRP/Impulse Records. The fund was set up by friends and industry professionals in honor of Duke’s memory to help new jazz talent. All donations are collected and will be distributed through IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators). The fund has not yet reached a level where an annual scholarship can be awarded to a deserving jazz student. JazzWeek will be donating a portion of its profits to the fund and we encourage anyone to make a donation to the fund. Please send your tax-deductible donation to: The Duke DuBois Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o I.A.J.E.
