What is the Drunken Scramble?
The drunken scramble, as it has come to be known, is the second 18-hole round on Saturday of a GGF. The format changes year to year, but it is understood that most of the golfers have had at least a few drinks by mid-afternoon on a Saturday of a GGF and their individual golf scores are likely to take a hit. To keep egos up and make things a little more fun by teaming up with the guy in your golf cart, the afternoon is usually a scramble. The traditional format is: 2-man scramble teams playing for skins. If you don’t drink, that’s fine, but you will take a hit on your handicap for the pairings (a 15 handicap would play as a 9 possibly).
