What is the dog breed from this “Beneful” commercials?
The dogs portraying Benji and this dog were all shelter mutts. Shelter mutts are not bad dogs, and can be great, intelligent pets as well as talented actors, but the reality is, 60 percent get killed for lack of homes, so folks, please don’t go trying to breed a “Beneful dog” or a “Benji”. ADDED: I know you didn’t mention breeding a whole litter of them, but someone here will get the bright idea they can make money and won’t believe or understand that you can’t replicate a mongrel by breeding the same mix of breeds together. I am hoping to nip that in the bud. There’s lots of adorable dogs already in shelters. In fact, it’s time for me to go find myself one. Both my mixes have passed away in the last 6 months, and I miss them badly.
Benji is a female mixed breed. Owner-creator Joe Camp believes there might be some Tibetan Terrier, and perhaps a bit of spaniel because she spreads out on the floor like a bear rug with her back legs splayed out behind her, a trait of spaniels. But no one knows for sure because the new Benji was adopted from an animal shelter after being picked up on the streets of Pass Christian, Mississippi. well that is what they think the new benji who by the way is female is.
