What is the document/receipt issued to the customer ?
The “receipt” issued by Balaji Shipping, for the cargo handed over by the “Shipper” at the port of loading is called a “Bill of Lading” (B/L). This is the most important document in shipping. The B/L that Balaji Shipping issues is a “Combined Transport Bill of Lading”. This bill of lading is a “negotiable” document by which the holder can claim title/possession of the cargo. Only on surrender of a duly accomplished B/L by the consignee, at the discharge/destination port, can the cargo/container be handed over/delivered by Balaji Shipping.
