What is the DOCSIS 1.0 “End of Life” replacement program?
Background: Starting in the fall of 2008, Comcast began to upgrade our network to the DOCSIS 3.0 standard. DOCSIS 1.0 is the original standard for how cable modems work. Most of the active devices in our network comply with DOCSIS 1.1, DOCSIS 2.0, and now DOCSIS 3.0. However, a very small number only comply with DOCSIS 1.0, including some that may say they comply with DOCSIS 1.1. Benefits of Upgrading to a Newer Device: Upgrading to a device that supports a more recent DOCSIS version will enable our customers to have access to higher speeds, greater reliability, and other benefits. Comcast’s DOCSIS 1.0 Device Replacement Program: If you have a DOCSIS 1.0-only device that is working on our network now, and your account is in good standing, it will continue to function until December 14, 2009.
