What is the Dissertation Writing Retreat?
A dissertation writing retreat (or thesis writing retreat) is a program offering dedicated time to focus on writing your dissertation without the distractions of everyday life (business, academic, or family) with editorial and other support services that help you break through writing blocks.
Great Trees Retreat in the Hudson Valley region of New York State offers a Spring Break Dissertation and Thesis Writers Week, March 13-20, 2011.

The DWR is a two-week, writing intensive workshop to help you finish your dissertation. We provide a comfortable environment, free from distractions, along with support from the Academic Resource Center. You will have 10 days to focus entirely on your writing. It is an opportunity to learn and practice healthy writing habits, to connect with and work alongside other graduate students from across the campus, and to take advantage of the guidance available from the ARCs Writing Consultants. Is it for you? The DWR is geared toward PhD students from any Tufts department who are in the process of writing their dissertation. Doctoral degree candidates who are ABD (that is, who have completed all other departmental requirements except their dissertation) will benefit the most from this program.
