What is the disk space quota?

A personal quota is the disk space available for your personal files. Use “quota -v” to see how much space you have left in your allowed quota. Each user has a soft and hard quota. Whenever a user over-fills their soft limit, they have 7 days to get back under. The hard limit is the actually ceiling. NOTE: Using “quota -v” will not show immediate changes (see du command).
