What is the Direct Entry to Advanced Practice Nursing Program?
The Direct Entry program is designed for the student interested in nursing who is already committed to an advanced practice specialty. This option allows students to apply to the Accelerated Second Degree BSN program and a graduate nursing program at the same time. Direct Entry is available for the following specialties: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Acute and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Nursing Education. Direct Entry students first complete the 16 month Accelerated Second Degree BSN program. Upon receipt of their BSN and completion of the NCLEX-RN examination, students may enter the graduate program for the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Acute and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nursing Education specialties require one year of experience as an RN.
