What is the diffraction of waves, in simple terms?

0

Diffraction of wave like light proves that light does not always travels in a straight line. Diffraction basically is bending of the waves. You will understand better with an example. Consider your professor is shouting in your classroom & u r standing outside the classroom. you and the professor are separated by a thick door and there is no other source from which you can hear your professor but a small hole in the down pertion of the door.you will hear your professor shouting due to diffraction.(sound is a wave.) Example of diffraction of light is similar but you have to make the outside of room completely dark and put a source of light above if the hole is below and you will observe a beam of light emerging from the hole due to diffraction.
