The future Buddha Maitreya is Shakyamuni Buddha’s successor. {Arya} Maitreya is a bodhisattva and highly realized disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha who wrote five great treatises, one of which, “The Ornament for Clear Realization” is still studied extensively today.
