What is the difference of the cost of gas versus cost of delivery?
There are two parts to the PNM customer natural gas bill: cost of service and cost of gas. By law, cost-of-gas is a “pass-through,” meaning that PNM does not mark it up for profit. The cost of gas is market-based and is affected by demand, weather conditions and other factors. Cost-of-service fees for transmission and distribution delivery services are set by state regulators and generally do not change from month to month.
