What is the difference in yards and meters? Why do we swim both?
Most pools built in the United States are built on the US recognized measurement standard of yards. Indoor pools are usually 25 yards in length which are less expensive to build and maintain. In foreign countries, their measurement standard is meters; therefore, their pools are built in meters. The United States swims both courses to compete on the national level yet maintain their own course standards.
