What is the difference in the exterior door access control system and the interior door access control system?
The campus building exterior doors, that are electronically controlled, are an online access control system using software provided by the Diebold Corporation. Access to these doors can be given, by the appropriate authority, by merely authorizing it in the software. The interior doors around campus, that are electronically controlled, are an off-line access control system using software provide by the Onity Corporation. Access to these doors can be given, by the appropriate authority, only by actually encoding authorization for a particular door on the magnetic stripe on the back of the card. Thus there are two separate systems used on campus to allow access to electronically controlled doors.
