What is the difference in QUALITY between a GENUINE VOLVO versus an AFTERMARKET harness?
When I first discovered there were aftermarket harnesses out there several years ago, I was skeptical of the quality at first. They were less expensive and I thought they were probably inferior also, untill I was able to see them up close. I have now closely compared both types extensively and I can say that I have found very few differences in quality… and these differences suggest the aftermarket harness is a more durable design. I have found the aftermarket harnesses use a heavier outer vinyl cover material. Most of the plastic connectors are high quality genuine Volvo connectors and a few are made by AMP (http://www.amp.com) and are equal in quality. SEE PHOTOS. And the biggest difference… the aftermarket manufacturer uses a higher grade of wire (with heavier insulation designed to withstand higher temperatures).
