What is the difference in German roaches and American roaches?

0

German roaches are approximately 1/2 ” to 5/8″ long, tan to light brown with wings, but do not fly, have 2 dark parallel lines from back of head to wings. They like to hide in cracks and crevices that are moist and have a high degree of warmth. German roaches are most active at night. If you see them during the day, you either have a heavy infestation or they are under stress due to lack of food or water. They are more difficult to control because they reproduce rapidly, laying up to 48 eggs per capsule and hatching in about 28 days. American roaches are oval shaped with long antennae, reddish to dark brown, about 1″ to 1-1/2″ with wings capable of flight. They like to stay in dark moist areas and hide during the day. They can go 2-3 months without food and 1 month without water. They lay about 16 eggs per capsule and take 5-7 weeks to hatch.
