What is the difference in benefits between AGR and Active Army Retention NCOs?
A. The AGR Retention NCO is entitled to the same monetary benefits as the Regular Army Retention NCO. All AGR soldiers enter active duty under Title 10 of the United States Code (USC). AGR soldiers receive the active ID card, full medical and dental coverage, full pay and allowances including the Special Duty Assignment Pay ($300 per month). Upon completion of 20 years of Active Federal Service, AGR soldiers may apply for voluntary retirement. Family members of an AGR soldier are entitled to unlimited commissary and Post Exchange (PX) privileges and are also eligible for medical care under TRICARE and dental care under United Concordia.
