What is the difference beween an angle of elevation and an angle of descent?
By definition: angle of elevation is the angle formed from the horizontal line of sight to the line of sight of an object at a higher elevation. In a right triangle with the right angle in the bottom left corner, the angle of elevation is the angle that is INSIDE the triangle to the right of the 90 degree angle. angle of descent is the angle formed from the HORIZONTAL line of sight to the line of sight of an object at a lower elevation. In the same right triangle described above the angle of elevation is the angle that is OUTSIDE the triangle above the 90 degree angle. In terms of MEASUREMENT, the angle of elevation is equal to the angle of descent because they are alternate interior angles. hope this helps – wish I could draw a picture to show you.
