What is the difference between working and show line GSD’s?
A – There a basically 3 factions of GSD: the American show lines, the European show lines, and the European working lines. American show dogs are the ones you see at dog shows with the extreme slope to their back, over angulations & narrow heads. They have been bred exclusively for trotting around a show ring for many years. Most lack courage, agility and physical soundness. Their temperament has no bearing on whether they are breed worthy or not. European show lines are similar to the American show dogs. Their angles are not the same; they tend more towards a roached, short back. These dogs are where the money is, temperament and physical soundness are not the primary breeding goal, structure and the present beauty trend are.
