What Is the Difference Between Windows XP Professional & Windows XP Media?
Microsoft Windows XP, the XP short for “experience,” is an operating system for use on PCs, including desktops and laptops for both home and business. Windows XP was first released on Oct. 25, 2001, and has since become one of the most widely adopted operating systems in the world. Windows XP is the first operating system for average consumers produced by Microsoft to be built on the Windows NT architecture, replacing the older Windows 95/98/Me series. Microsoft decided to join the set-top box industry with its introduction of Windows XP Media Center Edition in 2002, which was designed specifically for TV-connected media center PCs.
