What is the difference between Windows Updates (patch Tuesday and Microsoft Updates?
The Windows Update site *only* contained updates for the Windows operating systems. With the Microsoft Update site, Microsoft is adding support for not only their operating systems, but several of their applications as well, currently the contemporary Office suites and Windows Defender (their anti-spyware application). So instead of having to visit Windows Update and *then* Office Update, one can now simply visit Microsoft Update and obtain the patches in one place. Additionally, Microsoft will continue adding products to the Microsoft Update site. Both sites, however, are updated on the second Tuesday of every month for critical patches.
