The difference between the two is simply the operating system that runs the web server. Windows NT resembles the popular MS windows 95/98 operating systems that run so many PC’s. However, it is specifically designed to handle the transmission of web data such as web pages, e-mail and other file transfers. Unix/Linux as an operating system has been around for quite some time and is believed by many to be the most stable of the operating systems. There are many versions of Linux, but the most common is Red Hat.
