There are actually several different methods of producing carbon fibre components and Carbon Mods use three of them in our workshops depending upon the product and which process is most suitable. Wet lay uses dry carbon fabric that is laminated by hand using a ‘wet’ resin. Pre-preg carbon fibre is done using special carbon fabric that has already been impregnated with a resin and catalyst that will cure at high temperature. Pre-preg components are generally stiffer for the same weight and have a very consistant weave pattern on their surface. Pre-preg carbon is more expensive however and we tend to chose the best process on a product by product basis. The technique used to manufacture a part will always be clearly shown on its listing.
