What is the difference between veneer and laminate?
Most quality modern office furniture is comprised of wood construction covered by a higher-grade wood veneer or laminate surface. Veneer is a thin (usually less than 3/16 inch), sheet of wood produced by rotating a log against a long lathe blade. Veneers are created from hardwood and softwood trees that have been selected for their beauty and character. Laminate is a paper/plastic composite printed with a wood-grain effect that has been impregnated with melamine at high temperature and pressure to form a highly-durable finish.
