What is the difference between VCU’s MSW Distance Education (DE) program and the traditional MSW program?
The required MSW courses and number of credits for both programs are exactly the same. The MSW DE courses are taught by the same instructors as our Richmond-based program. The only difference between the two programs is in how the MSW DE program is delivered. Admissions standards, graduation requirements and course work are identical to the Richmond campus full- and part-time programs. Students enrolled in MSW DE enjoy all MSW program benefits, with unlimited access to VCU libraries, career planning and placement services, and a support network of alumni. MSW DE students graduate with a Master of Social Work diploma from Virginia Commonwealth University. Tuition, fees, scholarships and federal loan eligibility may differ for MSW DE students, so please review the financial aid section of VCU’s website for specific information.
