What is the difference between various MPH concentrations?
About half of the MPH curriculum consists of core courses (e.g. Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Environmental Health) that are taken by all MPH students. The remaining courses are specific to the one concentration to which the student has been admitted. At GMU, there are currently three concentrations to select from: community health, epidemiology, and global health. The community health concentration emphasizes a health education and behavior approach and prepares students to address social and behavioral factors affecting the health of communities. Through course work and opportunities for practical application, students will learn to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
