The speed of a dialup connection is restricted to the speed of the modem you are using – currently 33.6k is the fastest supported speed, although the new 57.6k technology may soon be available. ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) operates by transmitting information digitally, which means the initial connection can be established much more rapidly than a modem, and data transfer is faster. ISDN connections are either 64k or 128k. You need an ISDN line installed in your house / office, and additional ISDN hardware to use the line. These are presently more expensive than a normal phone-line to rent and install, but call-charges are the same. You will also need to contact us to enable ISDN use for your account.
