What is the difference between using fire bricks or an Acucraft Unit for a firebox?

Using fire bricks to make a fire box gives your fireplace an older traditional look and is more customizable as far as dimensions go. The downside is that it is not as efficient because it does not have a heat chamber and blowers like the Acucraft units has.
