The process of adding a drive to an existing hardware RAID array and then extending the array must be performed using the RAID configuration utility included with your RAID controller. Some RAID controllers do not allow you to add drives to extend the existing array. For information on the capabilities of your RAID controller, contact your RAID manufacturer. VolumeManager cannot extend an array because VolumeManager is not a RAID controller.
