What is the difference between UPS and the US Postal Service (USPS) when I ship my package outside the USA?
[A.] Generally speaking UPS has lower shipping costs than the Postal Service. UPS tracking is very specific, and they rarely lose a package. However, on delivery UPS may ask for an additional payment of brokerage fees and fees charged by Customs. We’ve seen these fees range greatly from country to country, from only a few dollars to 50% or more of the shipment’s value. Please check with your local UPS and Chamber of Commerce for more information before ordering. The US Postal Service tends to cost a little more, but they tend to incur fewer Customs charges and do not charge a brokerage fee to have their packages cleared, which could save our Members a lot of money. However, their tracking leaves a lot to be desired and Postal carriers around the world are known for occasionally losing packages. If this happens we cannot not file an insurance claim involving two country postal delivery systems, so use this service at your own risk.
