What is the difference between tumescent and UAL liposuction techniques?
With the ultrasonic-assisted liposuction, your cosmetic surgeon uses sound waves delivered in a cannula (long, thin rod) to break up and liquefy fat before it is removed via suction. With the tumescent technique, the targeted fat cells are filled with tumescent fluid, and then the fat is suctioned through a cannula. The tumescent technique may reduce blood loss and post-operative discomfort, although there are advantages to each. Often, both types are used together for optimal results.
