What is the difference between traditional laundry detergents and high efficiency laundry detergents?
It all comes down to foam. Traditional washing machines use agitation to clean clothes so foaming is a good thing. But high-efficiency washing machines use a tumbling action so high efficiency laundry detergents have special additives to prevent excess foam. Traditional laundry detergent should not be used in high efficiency washing machines as their high foaming formulas cause clothes to foam and bunch together instead of gently tumbling clean.
