What is the difference between traditional 911 and E-911?
With traditional 911 services, 911 calls are routed to a general telephone line at an emergency response enter. Calls can be made to 911 call centers even if there are power outages, service disruptions, or any other network failure. With E-911 service, 911 calls are routed to an emergency response center via special, dedicated 911 networks. If the center has the capability of receiving call back number and service address E-911 will pass that information to the operator when a call is placed.
