What is the difference between touches and is/are touching?
“Touches” refers to the point in time when contact between a ship and an island or another ship first occurs. If two ships make contact, each touches the other regardless of which moved. Touching” refers to a continuous state in which two objects are in contact with each other. After a ship touches another ship, they are touching until one moves away or sinks.
