What is the difference between Thomas Jefferson Education (TJE) and the Thomas Jefferson Home Companion?
Thomas Jefferson Education (TJE) explains the philosophy of leadership education and gives general guidelines while the Home Companion gives ideas on how it can work in the home on a practical level. The Home Companion is a collection of articles written by Oliver DeMille, his wife Rachael, and their friend Diane Jeppson who discuss what TJE looks like in their homes. There are articles on setting up the home, Mom school, Scholar Clubs, etc. So it is much more nitty gritty, this is what it looks like, but without the foundation of TJE, the Home Companion is a bunch of ideas but with no underlying foundation of purpose. I found the Home Companion (HC) opened my eyes about things I could be doing, but it would have been discouraging to read if I hadn’t had the foundation of TJE.
