What is the difference between thermal & inkjet printing?
We only use thermal printing for jobs up to 1,000 pieces. While thermal may only provide you with one color of printing, the quality & durability of thermal is multitudes higher than inkjet printing. Thermal printing is waterproof and provides a retail look to your CD’s. Some companies use cheaper, inkjet printing, which may give you full color; however, your CD might look more like it has a sticker on it than actual printing, and be very aware that inkjet printing is not waterproof. In addition, if you do not print the entire surface of an inkjet CD, you will end up with something that looks more gray than silver. Have you ever seen a duplicated or mix CD that has a gray surface on top? That’s a sure sign that the CD was printed on an inkjet printer. For these reasons, we only use thermal printing.
