What is the difference between the two Quebec tax systems?

Reply: Revenue Quebec has come up with a new tax regime, effective 1998. There is now a “general” and a “simplified” tax system. All tax returns which we prepare have been optimized to ensure that whichever system benefits you most is the one that you get. By the way, if you are filing your own tax return and are unsure, then use the general system. If it turns out that you would be better off with the simplified system, then Revenue Quebec will automatically switch you. However, this is NOT the case if you use the simplified system. In any event, to be sure, calculate both ways, and use the one most favourable.
