The Direct Marketing Association’s list is a nationwide, voluntary list that telemarketers may obtain to avoid calling people who do not wish to receive calls. The Direct Marketing list carries no penalties for calling people on that list, and is not enforceable by any state or federal agency. The Texas “No Call List” is an enforceable mandate by the Texas Legislature to provide protections for those individuals that want to limit telemarketing calls to their residential or wireless telephone number(s).
