What is the difference between the Test of Spoken English (TSE) and the SPEAK® Test?
The Test of Spoken English is given by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in connection with the TOEFL Test at selected sites around the world. The TSE costs $125. ETS reports TSE scores to institutions after about about 30 days. The SPEAK® Test is given on the UT campus. There is no cost to the student. The scores are reported orally to the department within a week of the official test date and in writing to the student and the department within the next few weeks. There is no substantive difference between the tests. The question types and score levels are the same.
