What is the difference between the suns and the stars in Québecs hotel classification?
The suns are used exclusively to classify bed and breakfast establishments, while the stars are used for hotels, tourist accommodations (houses, cottages and furnished apartments), vacation resorts, youth hostels and educational institutional residences. Hotel classification is the responsibility of the Corporation de l’industrie touristique du Qubec (CITQ), which rates Québec’s visitor accommodations based on strict criteria.
