What is the difference between the (SMOA) Shooters Minute of Angle and (TMOA) True Minute of Angle?
SMOA subtends (covers) exactly 1 inch at exactly 100 yards. TMOA subtends (covers) exactly 1 inch @ 95.5yards or 1.047 inches @ 100 yards. There is an approximate 4.6% difference. An accuracy problem will occur if the scope you are using has the elevation and windage adjustment calibrated in TMOA and you are using a computer printout or range cards calibrated in SMOA. At ranges less than 400 yards you probably wouldn t notice the difference in accuracy; however, at 1000 yards you would miss the target. Note: For the rifleman using a Mil Dot scope, it is absolutely essential that you know if elevation and windage adjustments are calibrated in SMOA or TMOA.
Hello everybody! I am a beginner and did not understand until recently the adjustment of the scope, the suitable models, and so on. Each model has its parameters, so it will take a long time to explain. Information about the sights can be found on https://ballachy.com/best-spotting-scope-tripod/ I found the best model and am very pleased. Without a scope, it seems to me that the buzz and confidence are lost. Even at conventions for shooters and hunters, I often saw masters of their craft saying that a properly selected sight model is the basis of productive hunting.
