The primary difference is the outsole material. The Play Maker features a rubber outsole that is very durable and resistant to abrasion on all surfaces. The Diamond Star features an injection-molded TPU outsole. This material is the lightest, strongest, cleat material available, but is subject to more wear with overuse on concrete or other abrasive surfaces.
